Master Gardeners of Stark County

Annual Plant Expo and Sale

Plant Expo 2010

Saturday, May 15th was the date for the fourth annual Master Gardeners of Stark County Plant Expo held at the Stark County Fairgrounds. Plants for sale included perennials, native plants, heirlooms, vegetables, herbs, and hanging baskets.

This event is used as a fundraiser to help us provide our community outreach projects and educational programs

Over 1,400 plants were sold this year, nearly double the amount sold last year.

Local media coverage and word of mouth produced a large crowd of area residents, as the event continues to grow each year.

Featured education programs provided by Master Gardener Volunteers were:

  • Backyard Vegetable Gardening (Fred Hanacek)
  • Freezing, Drying, and Cooking with Herbs (Kathy Meneses)
  • Edible Landscaping (Rudy Moyer)
  • These topics were areas of interest for many people, who were anxious to learn from local experts. Attendees also received answers to their questions about plant care and pest control from other Volunteer Master Gardeners.
